Super Seconds Festival

September 2024

What is the Super Seconds Festival?

The Super Seconds Festival is a two day online event giving you the opportunity to pick up a bargain from 250 independent makers in the UK.

It is organised by the brilliant Sophie from The Creative Incubator and brings together a wide variety of different artisans, from jewellery makers to print makers to ceramicists (like myself).

When is the Super Seconds Festival?

The Super Seconds Festival will be on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September 2024.

What is a ‘second’?

It is a term used to indicate a product is not quite fit for sale at a normal price, so in the case of ceramics it might:

  • have some imperfections in the glaze (e.g. it is patchy or slightly darker/lighter in some areas)

  • be a little wobbly or slightly wonky

  • the colour is different to expected

  • be too large or too small

  • have come out differently to expected

The level of imperfection/wobbliness can really differ, with some items no longer being functional, whilst others being almost perfect, but just not quite perfect enough to be consistent with the rest of the range.

I am selling a range of pieces, some of which are completely functional, they just have small imperfections in the glaze, and some which can’t be used for their intended purpose, but are still useful in lots of other ways.

I will also be selling a few items that I have now discontinued (to focus on new work), so once they are gone, they are gone.

What will be available?

With 250 makers taking part in the Super Seconds Festival, there’s something for everyone. Whether you are looking for colourful clothing (The Jaunty Fig), gorgeous scented candles (ambustum) or stunning lino cuts (Alex Flower Art), make sure to visit the Super Seconds Festival Makers Lineup to check everyone out.

I am selling my tealight holders, small beakers, ring cones, snack bowls, pebble photo holders and a variety of small dishes.

SECONDS: Ring holders - 50% off
Sale Price:£5.50 Original Price:£11.00

How can I buy?

You purchase through each maker’s own individual website or Etsy shop, so make sure you have bookmarked the ones you like, so you can find them again easily on Saturday morning. The link to my shop is here.

What will the discounts be?

This differs for every shop, as every maker sets their own prices and discounts. I am offering up to 75% off depending on the issue with the piece.

How do I find out more?

The best way to keep up to date is to head to Instagram and make sure you are following both @SuperSecondsFestival account, and the #SSFSept2024 hashtag. And of course, the Super Seconds Festival website has all the information and links you need.

What else do I need to know?

Because everyone loves a bargain, it can be a case of the fastest fingers first when the festival starts at 10am on the Saturday morning, so make sure you have had a chance to look through the makers you like the look of, and bookmark the shops you want to purchase from.

I would also recommend making sure you have your card or payment details to hand so you can complete the transaction as quickly as possible, and make sure you snag that bargain.

Having something in your basket isn’t a guarantee it is yours, until the order has gone through, so if you really want something, purchase it quickly and then come back for a more leisurely browse afterwards.
